Sauti Sol Part of Idris Elbas’ Africa Day Concert

Kenya’s popular Afro Pop group Sauti Sol is set to perform among  some of Africa’s biggest musicians in a 2-hour long virtual concert on Monday to celebrate Africa Day, hosted by Hollywood sensation Idris Elba.

The Africa Day Benefit Concert, which has been been put together through Idris in partnership with MTV Base Africa, and YouTube, aims to raise awareness in support of health and food needs of children and families in Africa who have been affected by the pandemic.

The two-hour concert will be streamed and broadcast to millions of viewers in Africa and around the world on MTV channels and on the MTV Base Africa YouTube channel

Other artists from the continent who will be featured in the Africa Day Benefit Concert include; Nigerian music stars Burna Boy, Tiwa Savage, Yemi Alade and Teni , South African artistes Sho Madjozi, AKA and Nasty C,  Ghana’s Grammy-winning singer Angelique Kidjo, StoneBwoy , Tanzanian sensation Diamond Platnumz, and Fally Ipupa from Congo.

Africa Day is the annual commemoration of the foundation of the Organisation of African Unity on 25 May 1963.

According to a statement from YouTube and Viacom CBS Network Africa (creators of MTV), all funds raised will go to the World Food Program and the UNICEF who are supporting coronavirus-affected communities across Africa.
