Edge Convention Center, Nairobi, Kenya

I have had the pleasure of attending an event at the Edge Convention Center, the ‘new’ convention center in Nairobi, and better still, I also got a tour of the place and I must say for someone who attends plenty of international conferences I was quite impressed! Read on!

Located in Nairobi’s South B estate, neighboring Red Cross’ Kenya’s Boma Hotel, Edge Convention Center is stationed in an ideal location, outside the busy city center and overlooks the Nairobi National Park.

It’s also close to Ole Sereni hotel, Eka and The Curve by the Park hotels.

Edge Convention Center also provides accommodation facilities and boasts of  200 rooms that include a presidential suite.

What I loved about The Edge Convention Center, Nairobi

All under one roof – the fact that the hotel provides conference and accommodation facilities is a big place plus for me, making it an ideal host for international conferences.

Expressway access – Edge’s convention center is easily accessible from the Nairobi Expressway through the Belleview/Capital Center exits or the southern bypass exits, which is a key factor considering the notorious Nairobi traffic.

Green Spaces – I relish nature and there is nothing that makes a space beautiful, serene, and airy like green areas. Edge is surrounded by green areas with the biggest highlight being the carpet grass on the rooftop, where there is an outdoor event deck! and please note this is not artificial, it’s real grass that makes up a beautiful lawn that leads into the infinity pool. Some beautiful bamboo trees also dot the rooftop terrace and provides a lovely demarcation and privacy between the event deck and the pool area.

There is also a terrace of beautiful snake plants on the roof bordering the auditorium.

Space – if space is your concern, then Edge Convention Center ticks all the boxes; the main ballroom can accommodate up to 3,250 people, seated comfortably. There is also a total of 22 break-out rooms and a host of other executive board room meeting rooms. Adequate number of washrooms on each floor, accessibility for People with Disabilities, and ease of navigation from room to room owing to an inventive architectural design.
