Leaders in Congo are demanding for an apology from Deputy President William Ruto over remarks they deem as condescending to their nation and people at large.

Amb. Francine MUYUMBA NKANGA, is one of the first DRC leaders to Condemn the utterances by Ruto.

Mr. Vice Preisident @WilliamsRuto, this is really unacceptable, with all due respect there is a need to withdraw this statement,” said, Amb. Francine MUYUMBA NKANGA.

DP Ruto was “Contemptuous, Disrespectful and Arrogant” to the country and people of the Republic of Congo

Ruto while speaking in a political rally in Nyeri made light of opportunities for Kenya to supply milk in DRC  saying the Congolese “who are only known for singing” don’t own any cows and have to import milk from France.

“We have a market in DR Congo… these people who are (just) singers… There’s a population of about 90 million, but they don’t own a single cow,” he said in Swahili.

Kenya’s ambassador to the Democratic Republic of Congo Dr George Masafu, issued a statement on Wednesday saying it has informed the Ministry Of Foreign Affairs of the negative reactions Ruto’s comments have triggered among the business community and general population in DRC and added that there is no “broken respect” between the two countries in the wake of comments by Deputy President William Ruto.

The Kenyan Embassy wishes to reiterate that the government and the people share a deep and respectful; historical relationship with the government and the people of DRC. This relationship stretches back to the independence of our respective countries,” the statement said.

Ruto has also since issued an apology saying his intention was not to demean the people of Congo.
