That President William Ruto’s Cabinet is loaded with questionable individuals most of whom were rewarded with ministerial or Cabinet Administrative Secretaries roles (CAS) merely for political “tokenism” has been quite evident.

While the trend for awarding political allies with key government positions is common globally, Kenya’s modus operandi never takes into account “skills and leadership qualities”.

One of the Cabinet Secretaries that has left a lot to be desired to the point of attracting both local and international criticism has been Trade CS Moses Kuria, who has in the latest cabinet reshuffle announced by Ruto on Wednesday been moved to the Ministry of Public Service.

The foul-mouthed Moese Kuria has in the recent past been conspicuously missing from Ruto’s delegation from the time he went bizerk with massive hate speech and public threats to the media and members of the opposition.

Word on the street has had it that he was even banned from foreign travel.

Another politician who was awarded a Cabinet role at a time when she was still facing a case in court related to murder is former Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa who was appointed as CS for ….. Jumwa has in Ruto’s cabinet reshuffle been moved to the Ministry of Gender.

Foreign Affairs CS and former Machakos governor Alfred Mutua has also been moved from foreign affairs to the docket of tourism.

While Wananchi can only have a say and not much influence on who gets to be appointed to the Cabinet; the hope is that at least regardless of the means whoever takes up these jobs must be competent and deliver to the people!

Ruto’s first Cabinet reshuffle had given wanachi hope that finally the president has realized that “he is naked” and has heeded to public outcry and any advisory that he has probably been getting around his cabinet constitution, and was finally going to make it right! but looking at reactions on social media; it’s obvious that Ruto’s first cabinet reshuffle has left a lot to be desired and this ‘tweep’ @254_icon that left the following image on Twitter, now x, could not have illustrated it any better!
