Mudavadi/Wetangula Snub Odinga’s Invitation

Amani National Congress party leader Musalia Mudavadi has announced that he will not be attending the Azimio la Umoja Convention at Kasarani Stadium on Friday.

Mudavadi through a tweet said he had received the invitation but he had personal engagements. He went ahead to wish Odinga well in the event saying he was a worthy competitor.

I will not be able to attend Azimio la Umoja Convention because of personal engagements. Raila Odinga is a worthy competitor, I wish him well” ~ Mudavadi said.

Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetangula has also stated that he will not attend the event due to prior engagements.

It’s also unlikely that Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka will grace the event since he has been involved in a peace-keeping mission in South Sudan.

Mudavadi, Wetangula and Kalonzo were all principals of the NASA coalition that fielded Odinga as a presidential candidate in the 2013/2017 elections. The three are now principals of the One Kenya Alliance (OKA) leaders alongside Gideon Moi.

Azimio la Umoja Convention Chief Event organizer, Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya had on Wednesday said they had invited One Kenya Alliance principals and delegations from their parties among other key leaders to attend the event.

Odinga is expected to officially announce his candidature for presidency in the 2022 elections during Friday’s Azimio la Umoja Convention.
