It’s about time Kenya Kwanza politicians led by DP Gachagua, who has been very notorious on this, focussed on working for Kenyans and cut on the politicking!

One of the major things that is often prominent during a campaign year and one that we (wananchi) find quiet annoying to some point due to the political temperatures it elicits and the division it creates among the citizenry is; the ‘politicking’ by politicians around elections.

For a whole year straight until election day; we are forced to sleep and eat politics and for most wananchi; it’s a period that we always can’t wait to close; to get relief from the madness around Kenyan political campaigns and bring an end to the stalemate in the economy that elections often bring about!

As wananchi likes to say during this period “After elections at least mambo yatabadilika” (after elections atleast things will become better).

Unfortunately for us this time round; the politicking period has overstretched! it’s still very much around 9 months after the August 2022 general elections and much worse; a good number of politicians including President Ruto started campaigning way before the campaign period.

One would assume that the Kenya Moja fraternity, which is in power now after Ruto and his deputyRigathi  Gachagua won the elections would be quite home and dry; settle in their respective dockets and focus on working towards to fulfiling the promises president Ruto made in his campign Manifesto but politicians aligned to the ruling regime have been at the fore front of politicking; providing the much needed fonder to the opposition to intesify the ongoing politicking months on end.

If it’s not fighting over the Jubilee part headquarters, it’s running uneending sponsored  twitter campaigns and verbal attacks on former president Uhuru Kenyatta or threatening politicians aligned to Azimio.

So much is this lame and shallow politicking that we are losing the interest of the young generation on matters governance; “politics is dirty” or “the rot in Kenya’s governance is so engarved in the system that you can’t do nothing about it” are common reasons cited by Kenyan youth when speaking against their involvement on matters governance. They equate governance to the kinda of politics that has taken centerstage in the country and mainstream media has made it a habit to push it all over our faces! so much that a good number of kenyans never pay much attention to news as in the past; because it’s often awash with the usual politics; polticians trading jabs from an event or on a live panel discussion; then they air afew sad human interest stories showing a community suffering due to disease, clashes or drought or floods and it’s a wrap!

It’s about time Kenya Kwanza politicians led by DP Gachagua, who has been very notorious on this, focussed on working for Kenyans and cut on the politicking!
