Kenyans react

Kes 33.13 to Kes 202.61’and ‘18% VAT’ have been trending on Twitter since morning, with Kenyans on Twitter (KOT) criticising President Ruto’s government for the increased cost of living!

Treasury is proposing to raise Value Added Tax (TAX) from 16% to 18 per cent.

Below are some of the reactions shared on social media.

Daniel Mbugua: Wale wako Nairobi sijui tupange tukutane archive tupige nduru (those in Nairobi we should gather and let out a loud scream)

Marvin: We should come up with qualifications not everyone should be allowed to vote
Mr. Cliff: Yani the price of Kerosene has gone up by Kes 33.13 to Kes 202.61/litre! Where are we heading as a country?

The Government Critic : 18% VAT on fuel was proposed just two days ago and today it has been implemented by EPRA. Who’s crying now? Uhuru Kenyatta? Welcome to the new Republic of Taxmenistan.
