Panic after Gang Attacks Bamburi Residents

Eight people were left injured after a gang, suspected to be part of the outlawed Wakali Kwanza group, attacked residents around Lake View area in Bamburi, Nyali constituency.

According to witnesses, the machete-wielding gang was shouting “Takbir!” before they started slashing anyone in their sight including passengers. Takbir in Arabic means God is great.

Most victims had panga cuts in the head, stomach, hands, neck, legs, and back. Four among them are in a critical condition and have been admitted at the Coast General Hospital.

The police have since arrested three suspects following an operation launched to nab the gang.

According to Kisauni Sub-County Police Commander, Julius Kiragu, the three suspected criminals were found with items they allegedly stole from victims of the attack.
