Form One Admission Extended By 5 Days

The Ministry of Education has extended the form one admission exercise by five days to allow for a hundred percent transition.

Education Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang, said  the extension up to Friday January 18th will give every child an opportunity to get admitted.

The exercise targeting more than one million students had kicked off on Monday, January 7 and the initial closing deadline was 11th January but all admissions had not been made.

Parents and school heads had pleaded with the ministry to extend the form one students reporting deadline.

NEMIS

All schools, both private and public, will be required to upload details of all admitted students into the National Educational Management Information System (Nemis).

The Form One selection was completed on 4 December 2018 and students issued with their admission letters.

Unlike previous years, the new admission rules required students to submit their admission letters online to ensure transparency and curb fraud in the admission process.

The secondary school allocation is done based on merit, quota, equity, affirmative action and  candidates preferred choice of schools.

1,060,703 candidates sat for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams  2018 .
