KCPE Results For 2020 Out!!

Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha has announced the 2020 KCPE results, barely a month after candidates sat for the primary school national exam.

The KCPE exams were held from March 22nd -march 24th, 2021, three months after schools re-opened following the countrywide closure that saw all learning institutions in the country closed following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020.

Grade 4, class 8, and form four candidates had resumed schools in October last year, following the partial re-opening announced by the Ministry of Education.

1,179,182 candidates registered for the KCPE exams in 28,000 exam centers across the country.

IMPROVED PERFORMANCE

Magoha noted that despite the disruption in the school calendar owing to the pandemic, overall performance in the 2020 KCPE exams improved compared to 2019.

“Although the mark of the highest candidate dropped from 440 to 433 in 2020, the mean average performance and quality of grades for all candidates is higher,” Magoha said.

“For example, whereas 1,393 candidates scored between 01 and 99 marks in the 2019 KCPE, that number went down to only 307 in the 2020 KCPE. This was an indicator that most candidates scored better grades than the previous year,” he added.

According to the Teachers Service Commission CEO Nancy Macharia, 92,246 teachers so far have been vaccinated against Covid-19.

She also announced that President Kenyatta has issued a directive for all teachers to be allowed to take the Covid-19 vaccine irrespective of their age as one of the ways to keep learners safe.
